Makara sankranti signifies the end of Magha masa and Beginning of Uttarayana(here onwards day becomes longer and warmer), in honour of the god Sun, this auspicious day is observed across India. Sun is the only reason the earth and the life on earth exists! Without him we are nothing… Thank you for being there for us oh lord!
Regular exposure to sunlight (15 min in light skinned and couple of hours in dark skinned) everyday will help our skin to generate a Vitamin called as Vitamin-D, which is mainly essential to utilize & absorb Calcium but also its got a ton of action on various aspects of health. Its deficiency is very much reason for developing preventable diabetes (which is our focus here) and prevent COVID-19 too!
Unfortunately even though our India is in the tropical region with ample sunlight through the year…we are one of the most Vitamin deficient population in the world!
This Sankranti lets get our self a good dose on warm sunlight (adequate exposure, not over exposure) and put our self in a position to prevent diabetes and other chronic diseases.
Happy Makara Sankranti to you!
