Sugar free

Uncategorized

What this actually means is… its free of Sweet tasting carbs ( Sucrose which is actually a disaccharide, a molecule made of 1 glucose and 1 fructose)…and that’s all it means. There are other types of Sugars (carbs) in it, especially Starch in all eatables & Lactose in dairy products. Which nothing but the same Sugar (carb) but the only difference is it doesn’t taste Sweet (hence the branding). All carbs, whether it tastes sweet or not gives the same amount of energy per gram, and causes same problem as the Sweet table sugar (Sucrose). Don’t just see the ‘Sugar free’ badge (its a marketing tactic), see the amount of calorie per 100 gm of the particular product. Lesser the calorie better it is for the health, more amount nutrient is the real question we need to ask. One easy way to find out… food which contains lot of calorie per 100 gm (example more than 200cals per gm-this particular 200 cal mark isn’t specified anywhere, i just guessed it) contains usually very less nutrients. This is not a universal formula but a handy one to differentiate.

After this paragraph I don’t think anyone can fool you just by branding a product as ‘Sugar free’!…..right?
